Out-of-Hub Locking

With Social Bicycles, members can achieve true A to B connectivity by locking the bicycle at their exact destination. No need to search for a station if you're in a hurry, simply lock the bike to the nearest public bike rack (subject to a fee depending on your local program pricing).

The out-of-hub locking fee is customizable by the operator. By setting the fee high, operators can reduce the instance of out-of-hub locking. By setting the fee low, the system provides increased flexibility and utility to members. The out-of-hub bikes can optionally display credits to incentivize other users to ride these bicycles back to hubs, thereby encouraging users to rebalance the fleet.
